(Apologies if it seems tacky, but a picture of numbers with a title that uses the words ‘sexy’ and ‘figures’ just wouldn’t work 🙂 )

Running a subscription business is great because you get paid multiple times to create the same one piece of content.

We live in the content creator age where every man, woman, child… and the pet dog, can create content and publish it online.

Anyone can create content and charge for it… with ease!

It is incredibly easy to add a payment button to pages on your website to take subscriptions.

It is even easier if you use a platform like Substack, Patreon, Payhip and ReamStories.

There are many platforms that will allow you to run your own membership where you take a weekly, monthly, or annual subscription for the content you publish.

Because it is so incredibly easy… it makes me wonder why there isn’t more people doing it.

I have run several membership products where people have paid monthly or weekly fees to access specific content or information, and let me tell you… they can be incredibly profitable.

It is a game of numbers… a very sexy and attractive game of numbers.

You see, if you charge $10 a month for people to access a weekly newsletter you would need to produce just 4 newsletters in that month period.

If only one person subscribed to your newsletter you would earn $10 for those 4 newsletters.

But if you had 200 subscribers paying you $10 per month for those 4 newsletters, you will earn a rather decent $2,000 for the same 4 pieces of content.

You do not need to create more content just because you have more subscribers. You can if you wish, it helps to retain subscribers if you deliver more content than people are expecting.

Imagine that you have 1,000 monthly subscribers paying $10 per month… that would be great, wouldn’t it?

Would you say no to $10,000 per month?

I won’t say that it will happen for everyone, but there are people who are making that kind of money each month from subscription based businesses.

The reason that I like subscription based membership businesses is that they are affordable for customers which means that it is possible to have a lot of people sign up… and that a large amount of subscribers can mean a decent monthly income for creating a relatively small amount of content.

Plus, you aren’t being sleazy by trying to overcharge for content and constantly have to explain the price off as ‘ getting access to life-changing information’.

Yes, the content when acted on may change a person’s life… but trying to fleece $3,000 out of someone for training that is available everywhere is a little naughty.

Someone asked me just this week for $3,000 for information that I can find elsewhere for a lot less. I soon told them to jog on.

Of course, if the content is powerful and life changing, then by all means charge more than $10 per month. You could charge up to $97 per month as part of a fixed-term membership spread over 6 or 12 months for example.

OK, so let’s have a look at those sexy subscription numbers.

Please note, figures quoted do not include any payment processor or platform fees that will be deducted.

Charging $5 per month:

100 subscribers = $500

250 subscribers = $1,250

500 subscribers = $ 2,500

750 subscribers = $3,750

1,000 subscribers = $5,000

1,500 subscribers = $7,500

2,000 subscribers = $10,000

Charging $10 per month:

100 subscribers = $1,000

250 subscribers = $2,500

500 subscribers = $5,000

750 subscribers = $7,500

1,000 subscribers = $10,000

1,500 subscribers = $15,000

2,000 subscribers = $20,000

Charging $15 per month:

100 subscribers = $1,500

250 subscribers = $3,750

500 subscribers = $7,500

750 subscribers = $11,250

1,000 subscribers = $15,000

1,500 subscribers = $22,500

2,000 subscribers = $30,000

Charging $20 per month:

100 subscribers = $2,000

250 subscribers = $5,000

500 subscribers = $10,000

750 subscribers = $15,000

1,000 subscribers = $20,000

1,500 subscribers = $30,000

2,000 subscribers = $40,000

Charging $25 per month:

100 subscribers = $2,500

250 subscribers = $6,250

500 subscribers = $12,500

750 subscribers = $18,750

1,000 subscribers = $25,000

1,500 subscribers = $37,500

2,000 subscribers = $50,000

How sexy are those numbers?

There are people who have more than 2,000 subscribers paying them to access specific content and information each month, and there are people who are charging more than $25 per month. There really is no limit to the amount of subscribers you can have..

Usually, the more you charge, the less people you will have subscribing… but it also depends on what you provide.

I wanted you to get a feel of what you can earn running your own online subscription business.
